Marie Violet Kivette Coleman, 96, of Savannah, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah.
She was born March 8, 1926, in High Point, North Carolina to Jerry Jackson Kivette and Mozelle Katherine Marley Kivette Jones. In 1947, she married C. B. (Chuck) Coleman, Jr. In their 47 years of marriage, Marie and Chuck built a wonderful life together that centered around their four children. They were a team actively supporting the sporting and other pursuits of their children. They loved spending long days on the beach at Tybee Island and inspired that same love in each of their children.
Marie’s vocation was a homemaker and mother devoted to caring for her family. She loved entertaining her children and their friends. Her annual Christmas Eve party was the highlight of the season for many years. She enjoyed yard sales, playing bingo, and in her later years, loved watching all things sports, especially the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by two of her sons, Steven Douglas (Tiger) Coleman, and Richard Brock (Ricky) Coleman, daughter-in-law, Susan Buttimer Coleman, granddaughter Blaine Coleman Bunton, brother Jake Kivette, sister Lottie Bennett and stepfather Junior Brunell Jones.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Sandra Coleman Ward, son Robert Bruce Coleman, grandchildren Heather Walters (Shane), Kimberly Reed (Hunter), Natalie Freeman (Corey), Brittany Feus (Karl), Katie Williford (Brett), and Brock Coleman, fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Marie will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank the exceptional staff at Azalealand Nursing Home for their loving care and friendship.
A Graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 23rd at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park – East.
