Dee Angell was born in Trenton, NJ to Elaine Quick Totten and Randolph J. Totten.
She attended high school in Hamilton Township NJ., Cedar Crest College in Allentown,
PA on a full tuition DAR scholarship and eventually received her Master’s in the Art of
Teaching from Harper College in upstate NY.
She is survived by her husband David Angell of Savannah, GA., three daughters: Janet
Angell Frink of Seattle Washington, Jennifer Angell Shannon of Sudbury
Massachusetts, Karyn Angell of Eugene Oregon and 10 grandchildren. Kimberly Angell
Thorstenson predeceased her in October 2022.
In 1970, Dee and her family moved to the suburbs of Paris, France. There she served
as the President of the Board of Trustees of the American School of Paris.
Following her return to the US, Dee became the President of Metropool, Inc., the not-
for-profit ride sharing and transportation management service for commuters within
Fairfield and Westchester Counties. During this time, she was elected President of The
Association for Commuter Transportation, a national organization which lobbied in
Washington, DC for energy efficient programs.
Upon retirement Dee and her husband sailed their Stevens 47 sailboat along the East
Coast from Nova Scotia to the outer islands of the Caribbean, often living on the boat
for months at a time.
Dee moved to The Landings in 2003, and to the Marshes of Skidaway in 2022,
continuing her participation in her beloved P.E.O. and her commitment to the Skidaway
Island Community Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Skidaway Community Church at 11:00 am on
October 7 with reception to follow at the church.
